I took the The Acela Express Train from Providence RI to Washington DC in June of 2007 and it was excellent and the staff treated me with great respect and care. I enjoyed my trip going to and from Washington DC. At the beginning of my trip My Aunt Nancy saw me off to Washington DC and I was helped on the elevator to go down to the train by the staff and my luggage was brought down by the Acela Train staff.
Once on the Train I was trilled by the Handicapped section they had on the train. The section was very spacious and very comfortable for me. The bathroom was close by and was also perfect and very accessible to me. The staff were very courteous and very friendly to me. The captain even came over to me and talked with me for a bit on my trip home from Washington DC. I really was so very happy with the train ride to and from Washington. The staff were very helpful in every way and very friendly and courteous to me. I thank them all for their excellent treatment of me and my company during my trip to and from Washington DC on the Acela train. They even stored my luggage for me in the back and I had lots of it. I even had a roll in shower chair which they stored in the spacious handicap accessible bathroom which I was very grateful for as I needed this on my trip.
On my way home from Washington DC they had some mechanical problems and our trip was delayed for almost 2 hours but the staff were always courteous of me and kept me informed of all the updates and even though this was inconvenient to me the problem was solved and the staff kept me comfortable and informed at all times.
I give the Acela Express Train FIVE STARS for being totally accessible and for the fantastic service and treatment that I received from the staff on the train. A GREAT WAY to TRAVEL !!!
