boston-june-21-2010-007.jpgI heard Anthony’s Pier 4 Restaurant has the best seafood in Boston but had never been here until recently when my mom treated my friends and me to lunch. Anthony’s Pier 4 offers a spectacular view of the city overlooking the historic Boston Harbor and their seafood is freshly cooked and delicious in this very wheelchair accessible restaurant.

boston-june-21-2010-003.jpgParking is free in the large parking lot of Anthony’s Pier 4. Steps are located at main entrance yet a clearly marked sloped brick walkway is on the side leading to the main entrance. The two sets of double entry doors are not automatic so Jowanna held it open while Ric pushed my manual chair inside.

boston-june-21-2010-009.jpgOnce inside I found the lobby spacious with plenty of room to maneuver my chair. Hung on the wall are pictures of many famous people who have dined here.

boston-june-21-2010-101.jpgI saw steps leading to main dining area; yet a hallway on the side is wide and fully wheelchair accessible. An elevator is conveniently located off the lobby which allows wheelchair access to all levels. All the tables in the main dining room are of a perfect wheelchair accessible height.

boston-june-21-2010-015.jpgWhen I was here for lunch, the outside dining area was not open due to threat of thunderstorms but I could see all tables are wheelchair accessible and of a good height. We sat a a table by the windows and had a great view of the ships in the historic Boston Harbor.

boston-june-21-2010-010.jpgThe bar in lounge is not accessible yet there are plenty of accessible tables where you can sit and enjoy a drink.

A large single handicap accessible restroom off main lobby is spacious and fully ADA compliant; except the pipes under accessible sink not covered as is ADA required. The faucet, soap and hand towel dispenser are automatic and easy for me to reach

boston-june-21-2010-004.jpgThe service was great and our lunch was freshly cooked and delicious.

I give Anthony’s Pier 4 Restaurant FOUR STARS for wheelchair accessibility. In order to earn the Fifth Star they would need to install an automatic entry door so a customer in a wheelchair can enter and exit independently; and cover the pipes under the accessible sink in handicap accessible restroom as ADA required.
