The Asterisk Basserie in Newport has a wide enough entry door yet, I needed someone to open it for me for it had no automatic door opener. It was spacious around the perimeter of dining area yet towards the center it became narrower and was harder to maneuver my wheelchair. The lighting was good , the waitress was very attentive and the food was wonderful at a reasonable and affordable price. The restroom was very narrow to get into and if I didn’t have someone to help me get into it, it would have been impossible. It was really very small and it was hard to even close the door for privacy. There was no protective covering around the pipes under the sink yet the sink height was perfect for my wheelchair. The mirror above the sink was too high for me to see into.
I give The Asterisk Restaurant only Two Stars. To earn the other three stars they would need to widen the hallway to the bathroom, enlarge the bathroom so a wheelchair can fit in properly, lower or enlarge the mirror over the sink and place the ADA required protective covering on the exposed pipes under the sink.
