There are beautiful Hallamore Clydesdale Horses living right down the street from my home in the stables at Barry’s in Lakeville, Massachusetts. Barry’s is open to the public everyday from 9am to 3pm. It’s a great place to visit and see the horses and it’s ’FREE’. Barry, the owner and all the employees are very nice and answers any questions you have about the horses.
The best time to see the horses grazing outside is before 2 PM for they go in their stalls at 2. The grounds are beautiful and even have a nice gazebo that is very accessible to get to.
These beautiful Clydesdale Horses came from Scotland and England and they are very big. They weigh up to 2500 lbs. and are about six feet tall at the shoulder. Their feet are all white with white feathers that some call stockings. We were told that the horses eat a real lot too. Together they eat about 200 quarts of grain and six bales of hay a day!
The Clydesdale Horses are very big and known for their large size and strength but they are really very gentle and sweet. We were told that some call them “Gentle Giants”. They used to be used mainly for pulling heavy loads in the old days but now you may often see them in parades, like the Boston Saint Patrick’s Day Parade and the Falmouth Christmas parade pulling a beautiful wagon that was made by the old Studebaker Company over 100 years ago.
The Clydesdale Horses are all very large and weigh a lot. Then there is small little Belle, a miniature horse who lives here as well. Belle is my favorite; she weighs 230 lbs and was born in Lancaster, MA in 1995.
You’ll also get to meet Harley, an English bulldog; Minute and Shamus, two beautiful Golden Retrievers; a friendly cat named Morris; and a German Shepherd. They are all very loving, gentle and kind.
I highly recommend you take a drive to Barry’s and see these beautiful Clydesdale Horses. Barry and the staff are very friendly and it is a very accessible place. If you get there after 2 PM, don’t worry, you will still get to see the horses in their stalls. Oh and don’t forget to have your picture taken with “Chief” , the large shiny statue of a Clydesdale horse who will greet you when you enter Barry’s!
I give Barry’s Hallamore Clydesdale Horses FIVE STARS for wheelchair accessibility! I give Barry, the staff who work here, the beautiful Clydesdale Horses who live here and Belle FIVE STARS for kindness and sensitivity!

Eight Hallamore Clydesdale Horses from Barry’s were in the 2009 Taunton Christmas Parade. I put a video on You Tube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtMVZb-9dtg. You can see how beautiful and strongg they are pulling the carriage.

I posted another review of Barry’s Hallamore Clydesdale Horses – 2010 about how accessible it is even in the winter months with snow and cold weather. I also took a video of me visiting these Clydesdales in January which shows them out in the snow covered corals and inside their stalls. You can see it on You Tube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtj74G9uRms.

Glen Dodd a horse breeder from Charley, England bred Prince, one of my favorite Clydesdale Horses at Barry’s. Glen told me that Legends from the Gypsies say the way to make friends with a horse is to: Put your nose against the horse’s nostril; Blow through your nose into the horses nostril; The horse will blow back and You and the horse will now be friends! I couldn’t reach Prince’s nostrils but my Mom and Tony tried it and it works. They instantly became friends of Prince which you can see on our video @

I posted a review and video of these Clydesdale Horses being let out of the corals to head back to stalls. Theses Clydesdales are so smart and know where their own stall is. To see my post click on Barry’s Clydesdale Horses Coming Inside.
Below are more pictures taken at Barry’s. Enjoy :>)

Hey!
I was searching for good Clydesdale photos and I found this site. I just wanted to ask, could I use your picture of clydesdale in my sim game stable? The photo would be used for a sim game horse, it’s harmless thing which won’t spread the photo all around the internet.
I tried to ask as well as I could with my crappy english.
Thanks anyway and great text by the way!

Hi Wayne, I don’t work at Barry’s and don’t know the phone number. I just wrote a wheelchair accessibility review. I do know that Barry’s is open to all the public any day of the year. It’s located on Rte 18 in between the rotary and Rte 79 but closer to Rte 79. It would be best to take your daughter there before 2PM when the horses go back to the barn but you can still visit the horses in the barn. Your daughter will love seeing them! Kenny

Would it be possible to plan a visit with a group of Seniors from THe Village at Duxbury in April? We are an independent retirement community in Duxbury and would love to bring a group of about 12 residents for a short (half hour)visit. If you are available, the residents would love to hear from you about the horses. Looking forward to hearing from you.

I am interested in bring my grandsons up from Harwich Port on the Cape to see Barry’s Clydesdales. Are you open this week and what time of day is the best to visit. Are you still open for visitors?

Hi Flora, We don’t work at Barry’s Clydesdales. We just wrote an accessibility review. Barry’s is open daily. The best time to visit is in the morning or early afternoon when the horses are out. If you get there later, you can still see the Clydesdale horses in the barn. You and your grandsons will love them!

Kenny,
Wanted to write and say you are a wonderful and patient person for answering so nicely to all the people who think you work at the Hallamore farm. I have been there with my daughter who rides and LOVES Clydesdales. We always come home with AT LEAST one picture of each horse. She especially likes the one with blue eyes. Take care and enjoy the sun when it’s out!

Hello,
What a great site! I was so happy to find it before visiting the farm, and the videos are fabulous and very helpful. My husband and I followed your lead and became “friends” with Dutchess by exchanging snorts! So funny.
This is a wonderful farm with great animals and a very friendly staff. I highly recommend it, and bravo for such great reviews!
