best-buy-wareham-002.jpgKevin, Kellie and I headed to Best Buy in Wareham because I wanted to buy the ‘Patch Adams’ DVD movie after reminiscing about it when I was recently at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Emergency Department. ‘Patch Adams’ starring Robin Williams was based on a true story about a doctor with a good heart who truly believes in the healing power of laughter.

patch-adams-dvd.jpgPatch Adams, a medical doctor founded the Gesundheit Institute, a holistic medical community that has provided free medical care to thousands of patients since it began in 1971. Patch is also a social activist who has devoted 30 years to changing America’s health care system, a system which he describes as expensive and elitist. He believes that laughter, joy and creativity are an integral part of the healing process. best-buy-wareham-003.jpgBest Buy is located in the Wareham Crossing Plaza in Wareham. There are plenty of handicap parking spaces in the plaza parking lot close to the entrance of Best Buy. There are two automatic entry doors that slide open as soon as you approach. These are my favorite kind of automatic doors because I don’t even have to press a button.
 
best-buy-wareham-006.jpgThe aisles are wide and easy for me to maneuver my wheelchair around for there are no displays blocking access. Some items are located up high on the shelves but the store employees will help you reach for any item. I enjoyed playing a new Nintendo Wi-Fi game on display. I have a Nintendo Wi-Fi at home and love it!

The store didn’t have the Patch Adams DVD, yet a kind and helpful employee showed me how to order it at Best Buy online at www.bestbuy.com/.  I ordered the Patch Adams - Widescreen Collector’s DVD for $5.99 and it will be delivered directly to my home.

The restrooms are spacious, wheelchair accessible and fully ADA compliant; the faucet, soap and towel dispenser are easily within my reach.
 
The checkout counter is of a perfect height for my wheelchair and a customer in a wheelchair can easily reach the ATM/Credit Transaction machine.

I give the Best Buy in Wareham FIVE STARS for wheelchair accessibility. All the kind employees deserve FIVE STARS too!
