bidmc-dianne.jpgAll my doctors are at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC). I’ve written reviews of all the buildings at BIDMC which you can find by clicking on my category Hospital. This morning my Mom, Ric and Kate took me to BIDMC as I had an appointment to have a minor surgical procedure done at the Radiology unit located on the third floor in the Rabb Building, East Campus.  My very caring and kind trauma surgeon , Dr.  Hauser ordered this procedure to check on an injury I sustained in my recent auto accident. I haven’t been in the Rabb Building for a very long time so I decided to do a wheelchair accessibility of the building since I was there.

The parking area is conveniently located right next to the main lobby.  There are handicap accessible parking spaces but since it was busy I was unable to get a handicap spot. We parked on the top floor of the garage but it had an elevator which brought us to the main level.  All the doors I went thru were automatic and that is always a plus. The lobby is very spacious and I found it easy to maneuver my wheelchair around. The gentleman at the main lobby information desk was very kind and directed me to the Radiology unit on the third floor of the Rabb Building.  The elevator was large and I had no problems getting my wheelchair in with my mom, my friends and others too. The receptionist who greeted us at the main area of the Radiology Unit was very nice and asked me to wait in the waiting area.

I was getting kind of nervous about my procedure. I even asked my Mom to cancel the appointment quite a few times. Shortly after arrival, I was warmly greeted by a lovely nurse named Diana. I think Diana sensed that I was worried for I told her that  I was going to leave.  She told me she would be my nurse for the day and she would be there to help me with anything I needed along the way. Diana explained everything that was going to happen to me during the procedure and she took the time to listen and to understand every word I said or spelled out and answered all my questions.

Diana introduced me to a very nice Radiologist Dr. Brittis who explained the procedure to me and asked me if I wanted to sign the consent.  I agreed.  Diana and the Radiologist agreed to let my Mom come in to keep me company. (My mom always comes in to give me support).  Diane bought me and my Mom to the room where the procedure would be done. There were a lot of other medical staff in the room and they helped transfer me to a comfortable table where the procedure would be done.

bidmc-kenny.jpgI have never felt so comfortable and safe during a medical procedure as I did today. Diana comforted me the entire time and constantly asked me how I was doing and even held my hand at times. Dr. Tyagi and Dr. Brittis, the two radiologists who preformed the procedure were so kind to tell me everything that was going to be done and what to expect.  Diana was beautiful in every way. I would like to THANK her for all her help today.

I give the BIDMC Rabb Building FIVE STARS for wheelchair accessibility and I give the BIDMC medical staff and especially Diana, my nurse for the day FIVE STARS! They were all wonderful, caring and kind.
