Recently while touring the waterfront of Plymouth, my mom treated Ric, Tony and I to lunch at Boston’s of Plymouth which was formally Pilgrim Path Eatery. Boston Place is wheelchair accessible with a few minor problems.
There are handicap parking spaces close to the wheelchair accessible ramp. The wheelchair accessible ramp winds around from the rear side of the building leading to the front entry door. There is no automatic entry door so you will need help with opening the door.
Once inside I found it spacious and easy to wheel my chair around. The tables are all of a good height for my wheelchair. Our waitress was very friendly, courteous and kind. The food was delicious and the service was great.
The bar-style countertop for dining is not wheelchair accessible for it is way too high for my wheelchair. Four Flat screen TV’s placed on the wall are easy for all customers to see.
The Men’s and Women’s restrooms are NOT wheelchair accessible because there is step leading to the hallway where the restrooms are located that prohibits access for me in my wheelchair. My mom and Tony told me the restrooms are not ADA compliant for there are no safety grab bars or cover around the pipe under the accessible sink.
When we were leaving we also noticed the outdoor dining is NOT wheelchair accessible for there is a step down from the inside door leading to the outdoor patio where tables are set. From outside there are only stairs to access this area.
I give Boston’s of Plymouth TWO STARS for wheelchair accessibility. To earn the other Three Stars they would need to install an automatic entry door; install a threshold ramp at the step leading into the restrooms; make the restrooms fully ADA compliant; lower a section at the bar-style countertop to a wheelchair accessible height; and place a threshold ramp at the door leading to the outdoor dining area.
