Braintree Rehabilitation Hospital established in 1975 is a world-class healthcare provider of Neuro-Rehabilitation Services and Programs such as Stroke, Brain Injury, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis and Spinal Cord Injury. Braintree Rehabilitation Hospital offers both Acute Hospital Care as well as Adult Rehabilitation Outpatient Care at their primary location in Braintree, MA as well as some satellite facilities.
Eight months after my AVM ruptured in January of 1987; I was transferred from Rhode Island Hospital to Braintree Rehabilitative Hospital and was inpatient from September of 1987 to February of 1988. I don’t remember much because I was just beginning to awake after being in a coma for nine months. My Mom and Dad told me I received excellent Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapeutic services here. Dr. Douglas Katz was my neurologist when I was inpatient and he still remains on the staff as the Brain Injury Program Director & Director of Medical Education.
For the past two years I’ve been coming to the Braintree Outpatient Rehabilitation Center every other week to use the
Auto Ambulator at Braintree Rehabilitation Hospital. The Auto Ambulator is a great machine; it moves my legs in a walking motion while allowing muscles I don’t normally use to do as much of the work as possible. Whenever I use it I feel like Steve Austin a Bionic Man in
The Six Million Dollar Man. Suzanne Adams my Auto Ambulator Coordinator is professional, patient, kind, sensitive, intelligent and very caring. I LOVE USING THIS AUTO AMBULATOR.
Braintree Rehabilitation Hospital is PERFECT as far as Wheelchair Accessibility. We didn’t take many pictures for our review out of respect for patient privacy. The Acute Hospital is connected to the Rehabilitation Outpatient Center. There are plenty of handicap parking spaces located in a large parking lot close to the main entrance of the outpatient building. Entering is easy for the double sets of entry doors are automatic and slide open as soon as you approach. Once inside you will find a spacious waiting area with plenty of room for wheelchairs. The receptionist here will kindly greet you and direct you to the location of your therapy services.
All three levels are easy to access via spacious elevators. The gym is large and it accommodates a lot of specialized rehabilitation equipment and therapy mats. Private therapy/consults rooms are easy to access if you are here for speech, occupational or other services or programs. All the restrooms are spacious, wheelchair accessible and fully ADA compliant. A small cafeteria is located on the first floor of the hospital. This cafeteria is open until 2pm serving breakfast and lunch. The cafeteria is fully wheelchair accessible with tables of a good height. And the cost of the food is very reasonable.
All the persons I’ve met who work here are professional, sensitive, kind, courteous and respectful!
I give Braintree Rehabilitation Hospital FIVE STARS PLUS for Accessibility and the wonderful Neuro-Rehabilitative Services and Care they provide.
