My friends and I headed to Foxborough today to check out the new Patriot’s Place. We decided to have lunch at CBS Scene Restaurant & Bar located at Patriot’s Place which is right next to Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots. There is plenty of handicap parking spaces located at the right of the parking lot. Next to the parking area is an accessible opening to the side walk.
There is a large staircase leading to the three floors of this building. There is also an elevator that will take you to all three levels. The 1st floor is retail store, the 2nd is a dining area that is for finer dining and opens at 5 PM and the 3rd floor is a restaurant and bar where we had lunch today.
Approaching the building we noticed it had a automatic doors. My friends and I entered the retail store that sells movie/TV show memorabilia, sweatshirts, DVD’s and collectibles. It was a really interesting store. Exiting the store we took a right down a short but very dark hallway to access the elevator. Increasing the lighting would be a plus for people with visual difficulties would have problems seeing as my friends found it dark also.
We took the elevator to the 3rd floor to the restaurant where we decided to eat. As we exited the elevator we encountered another dark narrow path to the actual restaurant/bar. Once in the restaurant we learned there was another entrance on the opposite side of the building where you’re greeted by the host/hostess. That entrance has two automatic double doors to enter from the outside where there you’ll find other restaurants and stores.
Walking through the restaurant we saw plenty of HD TV’s everywhere! TV’s are located at every booth. We faced a few obstacles before we were seated. The space between some tables is not wide enough for my wheelchair to get by but every restaurant employee helped me out by removing chairs and widening the path. Some customers even had to get up from their tables for me to wheel by.
I found the table height excellent for my wheelchair. Our very nice and kind waitress took our lunch order. While waiting for our lunch, I decided to check out the men’s room. It has a spacious handicap stall and all the ADA requirements.
We also noticed there is an outdoor dining area. There is a table directly in front of the exit to the outdoor dining area with minimum room to get by. I had to ask three gentlemen that were sitting there to excuse me to get by. Once outside, I experienced an awesome view of Gillette Stadium!
I give the CBS Scene Restaurant & Bar FOUR STARS for wheelchair accessibility. In order to earn the FIFTH STAR they would need to widen the space between tables in the dining room, brighten the hallway lights where one accesses the elevator and remove the table that is in front of the door that leads to the outdoor area. I give FIVE STARS to the restaurant staff for their attentiveness and great service.
