the-grinch-017.jpgJosh, my roommate, our friends and I had the wonderful opportunity to see the classic holiday musical “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” at the Citi Performing Arts Center in Boston last night.

the-grinch-016.jpgWe conveniently parked in a  lot right across the street from the Citi Performing Arts Center. The parking attendants were very nice and considerate. They kindly offered to park our van for us. This allowed us get out of our van at the entrance of the lot so that my power chair would not have to wheel through all the slushy snow. Crossing the street safely was easy for there was a pedestrian crosswalk.

the-grinch-006.jpgI had no problem entering the Citi Peforming Arts Center for the doors are wide and automatic. The ticket master took our tickets and guided us to the lobby. As soon as we entered the lobby we all felt the Christmas spirit as everything is beautifully decorated and the “Grinch” lingered about.

wangcenter.jpgI was very impressed that this beautiful historical building is fully wheelchair accessible and how the management thought of most every accessible feature imaginable. The management obviously appreiciates the importance of accessibility:)

the-grinch-010.jpgA ll the wheelchair accessible seating is in a rear section of the Citi Performing Arts Center. My seat was up front in this section and I found it a little difficult for me to see the stage, as I am visually impaired. This wheelchair section is very spacious and the accessible ramp leading to the this section is wide and easy to get up and down. The staff were very courteous, helpful and friendly.

the-grinch-015.jpgThe handicap equipped restroom is a private room that has a sign stating; “THIS RESTROOM IS FOR THE MOBILITY IMPAIRED ONLY”. It is very spacious and has all the ADA requirements met. I found the accessible sink is of a perfect height and it is very easy to reach the automatic soap and towel dispenser.

the-grinch-019.jpgMy friends and I all enjoyed “How The Grinch Stole Christmas”. The Grinch started off hating Christmas and plots to end it but by the end of the show the Christmas spirit takes over the Grinch and changes his heart from bad to good!

I give the Citi Performing Arts Center FIVE STARS for wheelchair accessibility. My only suggestion to make it more accessible is for them to place some wheelchair accessible seating closer to the stage so that the visually impaired can see the musical clearer.
