After buying some fishing hooks for my pole at Dick’s Sporting Goods, my friends and I stopped for a little taste of ice cream at Cold Stone Creamery. Cold Stone is also located at Colony Place in Plymouth. I was pleased to find Cold Stone wheelchair friendly and accessible.

Plenty of handicap parking spaces are located right up front in a large parking lot. You’ll need help with opening the entry door for it is not automatic. All the ice cream and toppings are in a glass case and easy for me to view from my chair. You can choose any flavor and ingredient to create a cone, smoothies, cakes and shakes.

The counter where you pay for your ice cream is of a perfect wheelchair accessible height. There are no tables or restrooms located inside this small creamery. Small outdoor tables are located on a patio in front. The tables are of a perfect wheelchair accessible height; yet it is difficult to fit my leg rests underneath; the legs block full wheelchair access. This is not a problem when eating an ice cream cone but would be if you ordered a sundae or ice cream you need place on the table and eat a spoon.

I give this Cold Stone Creamery FOUR STARS for wheelchair accessibility. To earn the Fifth Star, they need to install automatic entry doors so a wheeler can independently enter and place an outdoor wheelchair accessible table on the patio.
