lisahandingkennyinvitation1.jpgOnce again, I traveled to the Taunton Office of  Congressman Barney Frank to pick up two tickets for the Inauguration of President-Elect Barack Obama and Vice President-Elect Joe Biden. The Inaugural Ceremony will take place at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, January 20, 2009. Ric, my friend and I will be attending :)

I feel honored and privileged to be able to attend and witness this historical moment when Barack Obama becomes the 44th President of the United States. And I am extremely GRATEFUL to State Representative Steve Canessa and Congressman Barney Frank for thinking of me and giving me a ticket.

I was warmly greeted by Karen Harraghy and Lisa Lowney, District Representatives for Congressman Frank. Lisa handed me the tickets and the formal invitation. I felt ELATED!

inauguration-invitation-pictures-004.jpgLisa also offered me and my friends, Tony, Ric and Kate tickets to a Massachusetts Event that will be held at Nationals Park, home of the  Washington Nationals of Major League Baseball on January 18, 2009 at 8pm. We were told that Governor Deval Patrick and others from Massachusetts will be in attendance as well as members of the Washington Nationals.

kenny-holding-inaurgurationtickets-029.jpgWell tomorrow I will be very busy packing and won’t be doing any wheelchair accessibility reviews. On Sunday morning at 9am, Tony, Ric, Kate and I will be on the  Amtrak – Providence Station Acela Express with our Inaugural tickets and on our journey to Washington D.C. We’re bringing our computer and camera and will send my mom wheelchair accessibility reviews and pictures to publish on  The Traveling Wheelchair from Washington D.C. so stay tuned for a most memorable and exciting trip of a lifetime.

I was last in Washington D.C. in June of 2007 and found it to be the most wheelchair accessibility city I have ever been to. If you want to learn more about the accessibility of the inauguration simply click on Accessibility at the Swearing-In Ceremony – 2009 Presidential Inauguration .

THANK YOU Representative Steve Canessa, Congressman Barney Frank and all of their wonderful staff for allowing me to experience one of the happiest days of my life.
