The Crystal City Station U.S. Post Office is directly across the street from the
Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington Virginia where we stayed for the 2009 Inauguration of President Barack Obama. This post office is wheelchair accessible with a few obstacles which should be corrected.
After returning from the
2009 Inauguration of President Barack Obama we went to this Post Office to mail some Inauguration Post Cards to our friends and family. We were very tired and cold after this long day but thought it would be special to have the postcards postmarked the same day of the Inauguration :)
There are two handicap parking spaces conveniently located in front of the wheelchair access to the sidewalk. The entry doors are not automatic so my friends held the door open for me. Once inside I found plenty of room to maneuver my wheelchair for it is very spacious. I was pleased to see a document service counter that was wheelchair accessible but disappointed to find the letter mail slot where you place your stamped mail in is too high for me to reach.
I was also disappointed to find that none of the customer service counters are wheelchair accessible. The postal worker was very friendly, respectful and courteous. He told me that all the postal workers will help assist all disabled persons who need help completing their postal transactions.
I give the Crystal City Station U.S. Post Office in Arlington Virginia THREE STARS for wheelchair accessibility. In order to earn the other Two Stars they would need to install automatic entry doors; lower the letter mail slot to a wheelchair accessible height and place a wheelchair accessible customer service counter in this post office so that all persons can complete their postal transactions independently.

I found this blog by searching on Google for hotel marketing. How did you optimize your site to rank so high in the search engine results?

Hi Terry,
Equality and Justice for All is an important issue! We have many readers who appreciate our mission which is “To help make the world more sensitive, respectful, safer and accessible to all.”
I noticed your link to Comfort Suites. I haven’t stayed at a Comfort Suite but hope they realize the importance of accessibility.
