charliecupcakeslogo.jpgYesterday my Aunt Nancy, Tony, Kate and I headed to the Plymouth waterfront to meet my brother Dave for lunch at Cabby Shack.  After enjoying our lunch we stopped next door at Cupcake Charlie’s. Cupcake Charlie’s opened on the Plymouth waterfront in July and it is very wheelchair friendly and accessible.

charlies-cupcakes-0101.jpgI was in my manual chair so Tony held the door open while Dave pushed my chair inside because the entry doors are not automatic. Once inside I found it spacious with plenty of room to maneuver my chair around. Cupcake Charlie’s features 18 flavors of cupcakes from a book of 45 recipes.

charlies-cupcakes-007.jpgAll the cupcakes are set up in a glass container which is easy to view from my wheelchair. A banner says, “Life is Short… Eat a Cupcake.” Tony and I both have a little sweet tooth and couldn’t resist buying one of the yummy looking cupcakes and it was delicious!

charlies-cupcakes-005.jpgPaying for the cupcake is easy for the cashier counter is of an accessible height; all the tables are of a good height for any size wheelchair. We asked for our cupcakes ‘to go’ so they placed the 2 cupcakes neatly in a bakery box. As we were ready to leave we noticed another doorway that leads to the  Weathervane Restaurant which is right next door.

I give Cupcake Charlie’s FOUR STARS for wheelchair accessibility. In order to earn the Fifth Star they would need to install automatic entry doors so a person in a wheelchair can enter independently.
