dangelos-003.jpgAfter my appointment with my Ophthalmologist at  Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, my friends and I stopped by D’Angelo’s Sandwich Shop for a quick bite to eat on our way back home. I found this D’Angelo’s is partially wheelchair accessible.

dangelos-005.jpgThere are handicap parking spaces located on the right side of the building.  The sloped wheelchair access to sidewalk is on another side of the building; it’s not terribly far from the handicap parking spaces but for safety reasons, it should be located on the same side near the handicap parking spaces.

dangelos-006.jpgThere are two entry doors you will need help with opening for neither door is automatic; yet both doors are wide and easy to fit my wheelchair through with ease. The service counter where you place, pick up and pay for your food order is way too high for me to reach from my wheelchair. The nice employee told my friends and me that the employees here will always provide assistance to a person in wheelchair. They will bring the food to your table if you are unable to reach the service counter.

The tables are all of a perfect height for a wheelchair. My wheelchair could easily fit underneath and I could reach my food and drink on the table :>)

The restrooms are single Men’s and Women’s restrooms and fully ADA compliant. They are spacious with plenty of room to maneuver your chair; the toilet is of a perfect height with the required safety grab bars on the rear and side wall; the accessible sink is of a perfect height; the pipes underneath the sink are covered and I could easily reach the soap and towel dispenser.

I give D’Angelo’s in Stoughton THREE STARS for wheelchair accessibility. In order to earn the other Two Stars, they would need to: place the wheelchair access to the sidewalk on the same side of the building as the handicap parking spaces; install automatic entry doors so a person in a wheelchair can enter independently; and lower a section of the service counter to a wheelchair accessible height.
