dangelos-001.jpgAfter working out at Healthtrax Fitness Center Ric, Josh and I stopped at D’Angelo in North Dartmouth for lunch. I found it wheelchair accessible with a few obstacles.

dangelosdatmouth-003.jpgTwo handicap parking spaces are located right in front. The wheelchair access slope to the sidewalk is close by and easy to wheel up. Entering is a little tricky! The entrance has two sets of entry doors and neither are automatic. I was in my manual chair for it is the one I use at the gym. Josh had to hold the door open while Ric pushed my chair inside. After you go through the first door it is a tight right turn to the second door; there is a small lip at both entry door thresholds that Ric found difficult to wheel my chair over.

dangelosdatmouth004.jpgOnce inside I approached the ordering/cashier counter and placed and paid for my lunch order. This countertop is wheelchair accessible and of a good height. After ordering we got our drinks and sat at a booth, which is the ONLY kind of seating available at this D’Angelo. My wheelchair does not fit under the table of a booth because the two booth seats on either side of the table block my chair from fitting under it; making it difficult to reach my food and drink. When sitting at a booth, my wheelchair sticks out into the aisle which often blocks access for other customers :<(

dangelosdatmouth-005.jpgThere is one aisle with 4 booths but the aisle is too narrow for my wheelchair so none of these booths are accessible at all.  Customers in wheelchairs will have to sit at a booth in the front dining area or at one of the 3 booths to the left of the entrance. Yet none are really wheelchair accessible.

The restrooms are single restrooms, spacious, wheelchair accessible and ADA compliant except the pipes under the accessible sink are not covered as is ADA required.

I got my order when they called my number and I enjoyed my salad with grilled chicken. The employees were all friendly, kind and courteous

I give this D’Angelo TWO STARS for wheelchair accessibility. In order to earn the other Three Stars, they would need to place an accessible threshold at the two entry doors; install automatic entry doors so a person in a wheelchair can enter independently; add a few tables that are wheelchair accessible in the dining area; and place covering around the exposed pipes under the accessible sink in the restroom.
