dunkin-donuts-kenmore-sq-005.jpgAfter my doctor’s appointment at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center my friends and I traveled to Kenmore Square. We stopped at a Dunkin Donuts for a cup of coffee and were pleased to find this Dunkin Donuts a cheery wheelchair accessible place.

dunkin-donuts-kenmore-sq-006.jpgThere is metered street parking with no designated handicap parking space. We had my handicap placard on our van so we didn’t need to put money in the meter. Access cut outs to the side walk is located at the end of the block by the cross walk so I had to wheel along the street to get onto the sidewalk as I often do in Boston.

dunkin-donuts-kenmore-sq-015.jpgThis Dunkin Donuts has a wide cement ramp with railings on each side leading to the entry door. The doors are not automatic so an independent wheelchair user would have difficulty getting in. Jowanna held the door open while my friend Ric pushed my wheelchair inside.

dunkin-donuts-kenmore-sq-018.jpgInside is very spacious and easy to wheel around. The dining area has tables that are all of a perfect height for me and my wheelchair. The cashier counter where you place and pay for your coffee is of a good accessible height. The employees were very courteous, helpful and friendly. The coffee was delicious as I tried pumpkin spice, a new flavor of the season.

There are no public restrooms in this Dunkin Donuts.

I give Dunkin Donut Kenmore Square FOUR STARS for wheelchair accessibility. In order to earn the Fifth Star they would need to install an automatic entry door so a person in a wheelchair can enter and exit independently.
