eagle-deli-001.jpgL ast week, my friend Josh told me about a cool restaurant called Eagle’s Deli. While watching The Travel Channel, he heard that it was picked as “the second best place in the world to pig out“. My friends, Amanda, Josh and I couldn’t resist checking it out and headed to Eagle’s Deli for dinner last Saturday night.

images.jpgEagle’s Deli is well known for their large portions and offers a variety of specialty burgers, sandwiches and fresh salads. Eagle’s Deli is most famous for their Challenge Burger, which consists of 5lbs of beef, 20 slices of cheese, 20 slices of bacon and 5lbs of fries. The cost of this Challenge Burger is $55.00. If you eat the entire Challenge Burger and all the fries, you become a Challenger Winner and you won’t need to pay the $55 and your picture will be hung on the Wall of Fame. If you can’t finish the Challenge Burger and fries your picture will be on hung on the Wall of Shame. Amanda, Josh and I weren’t up for the Challenge but still headed here for dinner!

eagle-deli-002.jpgWe parked our van in a handicap accessible parking space located in their parking lot. The main entry door isn’t automatic so Amanda held the door open while Josh pushed my manual chair inside. Once inside I found it crowed with customers yet all were friendly and kind. We approached the counter where you place your food order and found it is too high and not accessible for me. Amanda and Josh placed my order. Amanda and I both ordered a Cowboy Burger!

eagle-deli-2-239.jpgAfter ordering we found an accessible table which is of a perfect height for my wheelchair. There are many accessible tables which are easy to access for there is plenty of space between all the tables. A waiter served our meal to our table, as a server delivers all customers food to their tables. Our waiter was very kind, courteous and respectful as were all the employees. We all enjoyed our tasty burgers and our fries were crunchy and delicious!

The Eagle’s Deli just completed new renovations and these renovations consisted of two new handicap accessible restrooms. I found the restrooms to be spacious, wheelchair accessible and fully ADA compliant.

I give Eagle’s Deli THREE STARS for wheelchair accessibility. In order to earn the other Two Stars they would need to install an automatic entry door so a customer in a wheelchair can enter and exit independently and lower a section of the counter where customers place their food order to a wheelchair accessible height so a customer in a wheelchair can independently place their meal order.
