The main entrance of the Eastern Bank in Middleboro, located on South Main Street is not wheelchair accessible because there are two steps leading to the main entry door.

We investigated further and found that there is another entrance on the side of the bank that is fully wheelchair accessible. The  Eastern Bank in Plymouth has no access to persons in wheelchairs, so we were pleased to see this bank is accessible to all.

Eastern Bank’s accessible entrance is located on the side of the building on 20 Center Street. It is the entrance to the Savings Bank Building, which is also the entrance to the Middleboro Town Clerk’s Office. Handicap parking is located on Center Street close to the Savings Bank Building entry door. You first enter Savings Bank Building entry door and then take a right to the Eastern Bank’s entry door. Both sets of entry doors are plenty wide enough for my chair to fit through with ease but neither are automatic so my friends opened both sets of doors for me.

Once inside this Eastern Bank I was pleased to see that it is spacious with plenty of room to maneuver my wheelchair. There are two document service counters and one is of perfect height for my wheelchair; there is one wheelchair accessible teller window that is clearly marked; it is located right next to the accessible entry door; it is of a perfect wheelchair accessible height. The bank employees all were friendly and kind.

I give Eastern Bank in Middleboro FOUR STARS for wheelchair accessibility. In order to earn the Fifth Star, they would simply need to install automatic entry doors at the entry of the Savings Bank Building and Eastern Bank.
