emptyhammperdowntownmiddleboro-024.jpgMy friends, Ric, Tony and I headed to the downtown of my hometown of Middleborough to review places of businesses for wheelchair accessibility. I was pleased to find Empty Hamper Laundromat very wheelchair friendly and accessible; especially when so many businesses in downtown Middleborough are not at all wheelchair accessible.

emptyhammpedowntownmiddleboro-025.jpgEntering is easy for there is a sloped cement walkway leading to the entry door. The entry door is not automatic but is wide and easy to get through. It was especially easy to enter when I was here for it was open nice and wide.

Once inside I noticed there are plenty of washers and dryers all at a wheelchair accessible height. Even the vending machine is reachable for me while seated in my wheelchair. The tables available to fold your clothes are also of a wheelchair accessible height.

The woman working here is very courteous, kind and helpful. They also offer Wash-Dry-Fold laundry service. The rest room that is for customers only is wheelchair accessible, spacious and fully ADA compliant except the pipe under the accessible sink is not covered, as is a new ADA regulation.

I give Empty Hamper Laundromat FOUR STARS for wheelchair accessibility. In order to earn the Fifth Star they would need to install an automatic entry door so all persons can enter independently and place protective covering around the pipe under the accessible restroom sink.
