I have an Iowa Standing Frame in my home and love it!! The standing frame is something I recommend to all who can no longer stand on their own. The standing frame allows me to be vertically stabilized with 100% weight bearing. It’s a great feeling to stand up once again. My friends help me get into the frame and then crank me up!
My standing frame has wheels; it is designed to fit through doorways so I can go into every room throughout my home and even onto my back deck. Once I’m in my standing frame I can be wheeled into the kitchen; help with dinner; or enjoy having a conversation at eye level.
My friends help me get into the standing frame. There are no transfers required; they place a harness underneath me and I am gradually lifted to a fully upright position directly from my wheelchair. My standing frame has a manual lift in which they pull to crank me up. Some more expensive models have an electric lift yet my friends say it is easy to lift me with the manual lift.
A plexiglass table is located in the front of my standing frame which is allows me to place a drink, a book or even my computer on it. I find it very comfortable; it has comfortable support pads and I feel very safe and secure. The standing frame is great for my self esteem and makes me feel more independent! It helps to strengthen my back, neck and leg muscles. It’s also very good for pulmonary functions and helps my lungs. It’s a great feeling to be able to stand up on my own and do the things you can only do while standing.
I got my Iowa Standing Frame from Hudson Home Health Care/Rehab Equipment. Bryan Rinaldi, Certified Rehab Technology Specialist and Licensed OTA brought it to my home and set it up for me; he taught all my friends how to properly and comfortably place me into it. My insurance paid for it which is a big plus!

I love this standing frame. What a GREAT feeling it must be to be able to stand upright again. I am going to check out the Stand Aid of Iowa website and find my local dealer. I hope my insurance pays for it because I know it will help me alot! Thanks!!!!
