boston-marriott-and-legal-seafood-015.jpgMy friends and I find Legal Seafoods at Long Wharf to be partially wheelchair accessible. There is a revolving entry door and next to it is an entry door that is marked as handicap accessible. This door is not automatic so you will need some help with opening it. Once you enter the restaurant a hostess is there to greet you and will accompany you to your seat. There are sloped ramps on either side of the interior entry way that leads to a dining area and lounge on the right and a dining area on the left.

boston-marriott-and-legal-seafood-014.jpgThe lounge has a tall bar and many tall bar tables that are not wheelchair accessible yet it does have one size regular table that is wheelchair accessible. The dining area next to the lounge has tables and booths. I sat at a table up front for I found it difficult to maneuver my wheelchair to the other tables for there is not much spacing between them. The dining area on the other side of the restaurant has a little more space between the tables but is still tight. I did find the height of the table perfect for me to fit.

boston-marriott-and-legal-seafood-019.jpgThe restroom is spacious and has a large handicap stall with the ADA required safety grab bars located at a perfect height. The sink is not wheelchair accessible. There is a skirt draped in front of it to cover up supplies stored on shelves underneath the sink. The pipes under the sinks are not covered yet it doesn’t matter for the sink is not accessible. It’s a shame for the water, soap and paper towel dispensers are all automatic which is a nice feature for disabled but I couldn’t wash my hands or use these features because the sink isn’t accessible!

The waterfront dining is really nice for there is a great view of the harbor. Outdoor dining is available during the warm summer months and the tables outdoor are a great height for my wheelchair. The food is really good but a little pricey so I had a cup of chowder and enjoyed the atmosphere and the company of my friends. Our waiter was very friendly and nice!

I give Legal Seafood at Long Wharf THREE STARS for wheelchair accessibility. They would need to install an automatic entry door, remove the shelves and skirt underneath the sink so it is wheelchair accessible, cover the pipes under the sink and space the indoor tables further apart so a person in a wheelchair can access all tables in the restaurant. It would be a plus if they made a small portion of the bar wheelchair accessible too.
