After working out at
Healthtrax Fitness Center today, my friends and I went to Lowe’s in North Dartmouth because I needed a new fluorescent light bulb for my closet. I was pleased to find this Lowe’s fully wheelchair accessible.
Many handicap parking spaces are right up front and close to the main entrance. The entry doors are my favorite kind of automatic doors for as soon as I approach they open wide. Inside the first set of automatic doors are two loaner handicap electric scooters customers with physical disAbilities can use while shopping. The second door is also automatic and it slides open as soon as you approach.
Shopping is easy here for all the aisles are clearly marked; very wide and most of the items are not too high; if you can’t reach an item, there is always friendly employee close by to assist you. I asked where the fluorescent light bulbs were located and was told exactly where to find them.
The cashier counter is of a great height for my chair. The ATM/Debit/Credit Transaction machine is easy to reach if you pay with a debit or credit card. The cashier was very kind and couteous as were all the emplyees.
The restrooms are very wheelchair accessible too. The entry to the main restrooms are done in a way that there is no door but still private as it is a hall with a turn into the restroom. The handicap stall is small in this restroom and not large enough for my chair; yet it is not a problem for this Lowe’s has a family/handicap single restroom. This single room restroom is spacious and fully ADA compliant; the faucet, soap and towel dispenser are within my reach and the pipes under the accessible sink are covered as ADA requires.
I give Lowes FIVE STARS for wheelchair accessibility. It’s a great place to shop for home products and it’s fully wheelchair accessible with very friendly and courteous staff.
