I had to get a new fluorescent light bulb for my closet so Ric, my mom and I went to Lowes in Raynham for it is not far from my home. I found Lowes to be very wheelchair accessible. When I arrived I noticed it has many handicap parking spaces right up front and close to the main entrance. The entry doors are my favorite kind of automatic doors for as soon as I approach they open right up!
Inside the first set of automatic doors there are some carriages and 2 loaner handicap electric scooters and 1 wheelchair for persons who have difficulty walking. All have baskets on the front where you can place items you purchase. The second door is also automatic and it slides open as soon as you approach.
Once inside I enjoyed the very wide aisles and the shelves were not too high but if you can’t reach there is a friendly employee close by to assist you in getting what you need. I asked where the fluorescent light bulbs were located and was told exactly where to find them. When we got to the aisle with the bulbs, my mom and Ric kept looking for a specific closet bulb but I reminded them we needed a 20 watt 24 inch light bulb for my closet and they found it very quickly with my tip.
After finding a fluorescent light bulb for my closet I asked my mom and Ric if we could check out the Halloween decorations that were right by the main entry door. When we got to the department that had Halloween decorations we saw some really awesome animated figures and I really loved the Mummy with the shifty eyes. It made all sorts of sounds as well as the shifting eyes as soon as I got close to it.
My Mom bought it as a gift for me as she thought it was cute. She got a 20% discount because it was the last one for sale. I wouldn’t call my Mummy cute but it sure is cool and I placed it on our porch as soon as I got home. I named my new Mummy friend EDGAR! I bet Edgar will scare a few kids when they come trick or treating this year. :)
The restrooms are very wheelchair accessible too. The entry to the restrooms are done in a way that there is no door but still private as it is a hall with a turn into the restroom. It very easy to enter and I love this design for a public restroom as it makes it very easy for a person in a wheelchair to enter. The handicap stall is large and has the ADA required safety bars and the accessible sinks are a perfect height and the pipes underneath are not exposed.
I give Lowes FIVE STARS for wheelchair accessibility. It’s a great place to shop for home products and it’s fully wheelchair accessible with very friendly and courteous staff.
