If you’re looking for a wheelchair friendly and accessible beauty parlor I highly recommend Maggie’s Hair Etc. at Middleborough Crossing. Maggie’s Hair Etc offers hairstyling to both men and women; manicures and pedicures; and has a large selection of quality hair products available to purchase. All the hair stylists are very friendly, courteous, kind and sensitive to your special needs.

There are plenty of handicap parking spaces close to the entrance of Maggie’s. Wheelchair access to the sidewalk is clearly marked with bright yellow paint and close to the entry door. The entry door has an engraved sign with a wheelchair symbol; “If you need assistance please ask – our staff is ready and willing to help. Thank You.” I was really pleased to see that assistance is readily available.

The two sets of single entry doors are not automatic yet Nora, the receptionist saw me approach and kindly open both doors for me. I was warmly greeted by Kelly, a wonderful hair stylist who does my mom’s hair. My mom has come to Maggie’s Hair Etc. for many years and Kelly always does a great job. A young female resident who lived at the nursing home where I lived for 20 years use to come here to have her hair and nails done as well. When her mom couldn’t travel from out of state to take her to Maggie’s Hair Etc., Kelly would pick her up at the nursing home and bring her back! Now that’s Special Service with a Smile :>)

Kelly introduced me to Sarah, another wonderful hair stylist.  Kelly then offered to show me around. All the styling chairs can easily be moved to accommodate a person in a wheelchair at all the styling stations and the sinks. She showed me a special shampoo board they use to shampoo the hair of persons in taller wheelchairs or persons who can’t tilt their head back to the sink. These boards make shampooing more comfortable for the customers who need this.

The restroom is spacious, wheelchair accessible and ADA compliant. The safety grab bars are on the side and rear wall of the toilet; the pipes under the accessible sink are covered as is ADA required; and the soap and hand towels are easy for me to reach.

I highly recommend Maggie’s Hair Etc. for all your hairstyling and hair products. I’m sure you will have a delightful and satisfying experience here. Kelly, Sarah, Nora and all the employees are friendly, gracious and kind!

I give FIVE STARS to Maggie’s Hair Etc. for wheelchair accessibility! I don’t normally give 5 Stars to a business that doesn’t have an automatic entry door yet the receptionist kindly opened the door for me as soon as I approached. All the hair stylists at Maggie’s and Nora, the receptionist earn FIVE STARS for their kindness, sensitivity and helpfulness!
