After my workout at Healthtrax Fitness Center, my friends and I headed to Michael’s in Dartmouth to purchase some supplies for a poster presentation. We’re very excited because we’ve been invited to participate in the  “Focus” on Vision Impairment & Blindness Conference on March 11th. We were very pleased to find this Michaels fully wheelchair accessible.

There are plenty of handicap parking spaces, located in the parking lot directly in front of the store entrance.  Entry is easy for the two entry doors are automatic double sliding doors; these are my favorite kind of automatic doors because they slide open as soon as you approach.

Loaner wheelchairs and handicap power scooters, with shopping baskets attached, are available at this store. I had no problem maneuvering around the store; the aisles are wide; there is no clutter blocking any access. The store employees were very kind and helpful.

The Men’s restroom is very spacious; there is an incredibly large handicap stall; the safety grab bars are located on the side and rear wall of the toilet at a perfect height; the accessible sink is of a perfect height for my wheelchair; the pipes under the accessible sink are covered which is now ADA required; the soap and towel dispenser are automatic and easy for me to reach.

The cashier counter is of a perfect height for my wheelchair and I found it easy to complete my transaction. The cashier was very courteous, respectful and kind.

I give Michael’s – The Arts and Craft Store in Dartmouth FIVE STARS for wheelchair accessibility. Nice to know that there is a place that is thoughtful of every person’s needs. Crafty!
