veterans-memorial-park-pics-106.jpg veterans-memorial-park-087.jpgMonday, my mom, Tony, Ric and I went to downtown Middleborough to see how wheelchair accessible the businesses are in my hometown. We only had time to see half of the businesses and were very disappointed to find many with NO wheelchair access. Before we left to go back home we stopped at the Middleboro Veterans’ Memorial Park. We were especially pleased to find it fully Accessible to All. It was nice to end our day in Middleborough on a positive note.

veterans-memorial-parkpics-104.jpgThe Middleboro Veterans’ Memorial Park, located right next to  Middleborough Town Hall is a lasting Memorial to all Veterans of All Wars. It is dedicated to the Men and Women of Our Armed Forces Past, Present and Future.

veterans-memorial-park-073.jpgStreet parking is available right in front of the park. There is no handicap parking space designated. Wheelchair access to the sidewalk is easy for it is right in front of the park.

veterans-memorial-park-076.jpgMiddleborough Veterans’ Memorial Park is a large circle with a granite rose center filled in with bricks that can be engraved as memorials to a veteran or non-veteran. The cost of engraving a brick is $50. If you’re interested you can fill out this form by clicking on http://www.foursplus.com/mvmp/Vetsbricks.pdf .

veterans-memorial-park-074.jpgA tall flagpole stands in the middle and is beautiful to see. Hanging on it is the American Flag and a POW – Prisoners of War Flag.

Surrounding the center is a walkway with dedicated monuments and benches set off to the side. Wheeling along the walkway in a wheelchair is easy.

Wars listed on the benches are Revolutionary War, Civil War, Mexican War, World War I, World War II, Vietnam War, Desert Storm, Spanish-American War, Korean War, Operations Enduring Freedom, King Philips War, Texas Revolution, War of 1812, and French and Indian War. It amazed me at how many wars there have been in our nation. I hadn’t even heard of some of these wars.

Set between some of the benches are shiny granite monuments. Some are dedicated to individual Veterans and others to all Veterans of specific Wars.

veterans-memorial-park094.jpgWhen you reach the upper part, there is a huge stone with a small garden with some flags. On the stone is engraved: ‘Dedicated to the men and women who served in the Armed Forces in All the Wars of this Nation.

Middleboro Veterans’ Memorial Park is fully ‘Accessible to all’. It’s a peaceful place to visit and remember all our brave and heroic Veterans who fought for our Independence and Freedom in the many Wars.

God Bless Our Soldiers – Past and Present! Hope One Day Our World Is Full Of Peace!!
