Bird watching is a very accessible hobby I enjoy and especially enjoyed it this week while recuperating at home from my recent surgery at
Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
I have a trail of 4 Bluebird houses in my yard and all are Accessible for they are 3-5 feet in height. I love Bluebirds and other songbirds and having a trail of bluebird houses helps to make it more accessible and safer for Bluebirds and songbirds to nest.
This year Bluebirds, Tufted Titmouse and Tree Swallows have nested in houses in my yard. My friends and I have taken videos of each songbirds nest, eggs and babies recently posted a video of my Tufted Titmouse Nest, Eggs and Babies. A Tufted Titmouse is a cute little gray songbird with an echoing voice. It has large black eyes, small, round bill, and a brushy crest. The sight of the newborn Tufted Titmouse is breathtaking!

We had eight eggs and eight young from our White Breasted Nuthatches. The mother and father were extremely busy feeding them.
The father fed the mother during incubation.
We saw Woodpeckers, on several occasions, try to snatch at the babies, but the house I made was too deep for the pecker to reach, and the father was protecting the nest also.
I only took two photos, one of the eggs, and one of the very young chicks. I’d send them, but I don’t see how.

I posted the birdhouse and the eggs here. I didn’t post the chicks.

That is quite the video! I hope the titmice weren’t too upset by your filming them! I recently found some baby Pileated Woodpeckers looking out of their nest hole - what a treat - something I’ve wanted to see for years!
It’s great to watch how you make birding accessible right in your yard - so glad you are enjoying the birds! Thanks for sharing!

Hi Scott,
When I’m in my Permobil Power chair and elevate my seat, I can see the nest with babies in the box. Also we just lowered my bluebird houses on the poles to 3 ft in height so it is easier for me to inside and birds will still nest in houses 3 feet high.
My mom always cleans out the old nests and bluebirds have always built a new nest and she is on her 2nd blurbird nest this year. A Chickadee has already built a nest in the house my Tufted Titmouse nested but hasn’t laid eggs yet!
Thanks
