Sunday, my Aunt Nancy, Jowanna, Tony and I headed out to Mashpee because we had a few gift cards for some of the stores at Mashpee Commons and Mashpee Commons North Market Street. Both shopping areas are open air shopping centers that look like a New England Village; both have some chain stores, upscale stores, boutiques, restaurants, and coffee shops.
While shopping at Mashpee Commons North Market Street, we saw a New Balance Store. My family and I love New Balance shoes and apparel because they are so comfortable and look great. I especially love to wear them when I stand in my Iowa Standing Frame. I decided to go inside and to see the newest styles New Balance has on the market.
There are plenty of handicap parking spaces up front and close to the entrance of New Balance in the shopping center parking lot. All handicap spaces are clearly marked and ADA compliant. The wheelchair access slope to the sidewalk is conveniently close to the New Balance entrance.
The New Balance Store has double entry doors that are not automatic; yet I had no problem entering for a very nice employee immediately came to open the door as soon as he saw me approach. He kindly held the door open while Tony pushed my manual chair inside.
Once inside, I found it a pleasure to shop at this New Balance Store. It has all the latest footwear, apparel and accessories. The store is spacious with plenty of room to maneuver my chair; all the aisles are wide and ADA compliant. All footwear, apparel and accessories are placed on shelves or racks which are very accessible and easy for me to reach. All the employees are friendly, respectful and extremely helpful. The cashier counter is of a perfect wheelchair accessible height.
I give New Balance Mashpee FIVE STARS for wheelchair accessibility. To earn 5 Stars, I normally require an automatic entry door so a person in a wheelchair can enter independently but I believe the kind employees will always open the door for a customer in a wheelchair. All the employees deserve FIVE STARS too for being very kind, sensitive and helpful.
