My friends and I went to Newbury Comics in North Dartmouth after my appointment at
Healthtrax Fitness & Wellness Center. It was like a winter ‘Wonder Woman’ land with sleigh bells ringing and ‘Batman’ glistening. Newbury Comics is wheelchair accessible but there are some obstacles which need to be fixed.
There are plenty of handicap parking spaces right up front and close to the main entry door. You will need help with opening the entry door for it is not automatic, yet it is wide enough to fit my wheelchair through with ease. Once inside I found it very difficult to get around for the aisles are narrow and there are many displays piled high in the middle and at the end of the aisles that are difficult to maneuver your wheelchair around.
I collect comic books and I had a very hard time getting to the comics sections. Once my friends and I got to the comic section, we did find a great Wonder Woman comic book at a low price. The cashier counter was too high for me to reach so my friends had to help me.
I give Newbury Comics in North Dartmouth THREE STARS for wheelchair accessibility. In order to earn the other Two Stars they need remove the clutter in the aisles and at the end of the aisles; lower a cashier counter to a wheelchair accessible height and install an automatic entry door so persons in a wheelchair can enter independently.
