After having my van serviced at
Ride-Away, my mom treated Ric, Amanda and I to lunch at the Ninety Nine Restaurant & Pub in North Attleboro. We were disappointed to find this restaurant is only partially wheelchair accessible. There is only one wheelchair accessible table in the entire restaurant and no accessible seating at all in the lounge/bar.
Upon arriving we were pleased to find plenty of handicap parking spaces up front and close to the entry door. The cement walkway leading to the entry door has railings for added sadety. There are two entry doors you’ll need help with opening for neither is automatic; the first door leading into the foyer and the second into the restaurant.
Inside is dark for the lighting is very dim. There are two large dining rooms with only booth seating available and these booths are not wheelchair accessible. The dining room on the left side has NO wheelchair accessible tables; the dining room on the right has two booths that are considered wheelchair accessible because the bench seat is removed on one side with removable chairs where your wheelchair can fit. Yet ONLY one of these tables is really accessible; the smaller table set in a corner is NOT really accessible because if you sit here you will block access to customers sitting at the booth next to it. My wheelchair blocks access to the booth next to this accessible table as you can see in the second photo.
There is No accessible seating in the lounge. The bar is NOT at all wheelchair accessible because it is too high. The booths in the lounge are NOT wheelchair accessible because there is a step in front; and the bar-style counter with stools set along the wall is NOT wheelchair accessible for it is too high. Also there is very little space set between the bar and the bar-style counter to wheel your chair. Ric had to remove some stools for me to access this area. All the flat screen TVs are easy to veiw while seated in your chair.
Restrooms are spacious, wheelchair accessible and fully ADA compliant; except the pipe under the accessible sink is not covered as is ADA required.
I give this Ninety Nine Restaurant & Pub TWO STARS for wheelchair accessibility. In order to earn the other Three Stars they would need to install automatic entry doors so a person in a wheelchair can enter and exit independently; place more accessible tables in both dining rooms; place a wheelchair accessible table in the lounge; lower a section of the bar to an accessible height; lower a section of the bar-style counter set along the wall to an accessible height; cover the pipes under accessible sink in the restroom as is ADA required; and increase the lighting so persons with a visual impairment can read the menu.

Hi! My name is Ashley Reinhart, I am the Front of the House Manager of the new North Bar & Grille (tentatively named and slated for a January 2010 opening) on Elm Street in North Attleboro, Massachusetts. We are in the beginning stages of renovating and making changes to the floor plan and seating arrangements for the sports pub side and the casual dining room side of the restaurant and I would love your feedback on certain things you look for in restaurants to make your experience easier and more accessible. The building is an old Victorian style house with ramps already built into the front entrance and the tables are both low and high tops in the bar area. The dining room has low tables and high booths next to the windows. I truly want to make sure every guest at our restaurant feels comfortable and that they have the best experience possible. I know the Chieftan and Casey OConnors and Waxy OConnors and even places in Patriot Place were not properly designed to accommodate everyone so I really want to make sure when we open our doors in January that it is done right. I would be available to give you a personal tour of the property sometime over the next few weeks if that is possible. I stumbled upon this website by accident when Googling different restaurant uniforms and want to help in any way I can. Please contact me. I hope to hear from you soon and wish you the best of luck with thetravelingwheelchair.com!

Hi Ashley, Thanks for contacting me. I would love to come and take a tour of your new place to open. So many times people designing a place for accessibility aren’t themselves in a wheelchair and don’t really cover all areas. I just emailed you so let me know a good time to meet. Best Wishes!
