Recently my roommate, Josh, our friends Kellie and Kevin, my Aunt Nancy and my Mom planned to go to
Old Silver Beach. Due to rain we changed our mind and headed to
Woods Hole Science Aquarium located in the Village of Woods Hole. While strolling along the sidewalks of Woods Hole we came upon Phusion Grille.
We were all hungry for lunch and thought Phusion Grille, a restaurant right on the water would be a great place to stop for some lunch. Once we approached the entry door we realized Phusion Grille is NOT WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE due to a very small step at the entrance. If we brought my EZ Access Threshold Ramp that came free with my
EZ Access Suitcase Ramp I would have been able to get inside this restaurant.
Under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, “businesses that provide goods and services to the public are already required to remove structural barriers to access by people with disabilities when removal is “readily achievable”. A one step entrance is considered “readily achievable”. The ONLY Massachusetts city or town that I know of who enforces this is the
Cambridge Commission for Persons with Disabilities and Cambridge Human Rights Commission due to an ‘ordinance amendment’ the Cambridge City Council unanimously passed on March 3, 2008. Obviously, the town of Falmouth where the Village of Woods Hole is located does not enforce the ADA.
I give Phusion Grille in Woods Hole ZERO STARS for wheelchair accessibility. In order to earn any Stars, they would simply need to place a wheelchair accessible threshold at the entry door.

I realize a lot of what I’m reading lately has to do with the current financial crisis, but your post is another story :) thank you for sharing this!
