Plymouth Lions Club – Thirsty Pilgrim Beer Festival
Hedge House Lawn
126 Water Street
Plymouth, MA 02360

plymouth-lions-club-octoberfest-001.jpgSunday my Aunt Nancy, Lisa, Tony and I headed to Plymouth Waterfront to enjoy the fall sunny day. While strolling along Water Street we came upon the Plymouth Lions Club’s First Annual Thirsty Pilgrim Beer Festival which was held on the Lawn of Hedge House in Plymouth from 12 noon to 6 p.m.

The cost of admission was Adults: $5 and Under 21: $3. The $5 admission included 3 FREE 3oz. beer samples. The proceeds raised money for several Lion Club causes, including helping the less fortunate neighbors with their eye-care needs and supporting Mass Lions Eye Research.

plymouth-lions-club-octoberfest-002.jpgWe decided to stop in for a little ‘frosty’ and support the Lion’s Club great cause. The Hedge House in Plymouth is not wheelchair accessible as you can read on my review we did in July yet the Lawn is accessible with a few difficulties.

plymouth-lions-club-octoberfest-003.jpgThe lawn of The Hedge House consists of grassy terrain and it is set on a hill. The grass is difficult to wheel your chair on expecially up the hill.  A Mobi-Mat RecPath would really be great here and make it more accessible. Tables set near the entrance are all of a perfect height. The Festival Tent with food, german beer and music was located at the top of the hill. It was like a German Octoberfest and reminded me of the fun I had at the Octoberfest at Gunstock Mountain. I was in my manual chair which was very difficult to push up this grassy hill. Two very kind Lion Club Members came right over to help my friend Tony push my chair to the top where the tent was located.

plymouth-lions-club-octoberfest-007.jpgHere I saw my friends Andrew and John. I met Andrew and John at my friends Jamie & Crew home. John is a member of the Plymouth Lions Club. They told me about all the wonderful work the Lion Club does for humanitarian causes in their local communities. The Lion Club raises funds to help those in need, wherever need exists. The Lions’ motto is “We Serve.”

plymouth-lions-club-octoberfest-005.jpgAs for wheelchair accessibility, The Hedge House Lawn is not very wheelchair friendly. The Plymouth Antiquarian Society who owns and maintains The Hedge House should invest in a Mobi-Mat RecPath which would help provide better wheelchair access to the events held on their Lawn.

I give Plymouth Lions Club FIVE STARS for the wonderful humanitarian work they do to help the needy.
