I added the information about One Degree of Separation on my page on Paralysis. I want to let my readers of The Traveling Wheelchair know about this campaign in case they don’t read my revised page.

One Degree of Separation takes its name from the Reeve Foundation’s recent  Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation’s Paralysis Community Survey, which revealed that one in 50 Americans is living with some form of paralysis, whether caused by disease, spinal cord injury or neurological damage. One Degree of Separation recognizes this fact by showcasing thirty-five real people – fathers, sons, daughters, mothers, business owners, athletes, educators, entertainers, and more – who are living with paralysis. They are thirty five of the 1,275,000, and the Foundation hopes that by featuring them in this way, they underscore the point that these people are so much more than statistics.

The site asks visitors for a small donation of five dollars or more, with the goal of raising $1,275,000 – one dollar for every person who is affected by spinal cord injury – to help the Foundation fund cutting-edge research, improve the lives of people living with disabilities, and find a cure for those living with a spinal cord injury.

The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation is working tirelessly on behalf of people living with paralysis and raising money to fund research for a cure.  I hope you’ll look around their site and pass the information along to your friends.

Thank you!
