The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation

Paralysis Community and One Degree of Separation

Hello,

The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation is working tirelessly on behalf of people living with paralysis.

The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation began an online Paralysis Community intending to support people living with paralysis. The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation’s Paralysis Community is a place where people can go to find information to improve the quality of their lives and share their personal experiences and struggles. The goal of the community is to connect patients, families, friends and caregivers so we can share support, experience, knowledge, humor, and hope.

The Paralysis Community has several open conversation threads and blogs focused on topics ranging from SCI to breakthroughs in stem cell research to managing day-to-day life while living with paralysis.

Kenny & co highly recommend that you check out The Reeve Foundation’s Paralysis Community by simply clicking on Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation’s Paralysis Community.

I also recommend you check out the new Christopher Reeve Foundation’s One Degree of Separation by simply clicking on One Degree of Separation .

Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation recent Paralysis Population Survey revealed that one in 50 Americans is living with some form of paralysis, whether caused by disease, spinal cord injury or neurological damage. One Degree of Separation recognizes this fact by showcasing thirty-five real people – fathers, sons, daughters, mothers, business owners, athletes, educators, entertainers, and more – who are living with paralysis. They are thirty five of the 1,275,000, and we hope that by featuring them in this way, we underscore the point that these people are so much more than statistics.

The site asks visitors for a small donation of five dollars or more, with the goal of raising $1,275,000 – one dollar for every person who is affected by spinal cord injury – to help the Foundation fund cutting-edge research, improve the lives of people living with disabilities, and find a cure for those living with a spinal cord injury.

The internet provides a wonderful new tool for people who are paralyzed or who have mobility impairments to connect with the world, and we are THANKFUL that the Reeve Foundation’s Paralysis Community hopes to foster such connections.

Together, we can all help to make the world more sensitive, respectful, safer and accessible to all.

Thank you!
