saber-market-009.jpgRecently, my friends and I traveled to TD Bank North in Plymouth because they needed to do some CSI home banking. We recently read a story published in the Boston Globe titled, Chic spot well worth the wait ; it was all about Saber Market, a newly opened restaurant in Plymouth. We were curious to see if it is as wheelchair accessible as it is ‘chic’ and were pleased at with what we found.

saber-market-011.jpgPlenty of handicap parking spaces are located in the front of the restaurant. The restaurant has both an exterior and interior crisp modern look. Entering, there are no automatic doors as the hostess greeted us coming in. She was very nice as she escorted us to our table that has a funky retro design; the table is of a perfect height for my chair.

Wheeling my chair throughout the restaurant is not a problem for there is plenty of space between the tables. I could access every table in the dining area. Even the booths, located along the walls are wheelchair accessible; one side of the table is a booth seat and the other side has removable chairs, where my chair can comfortably fit.

Our waitress Kristen took our order and was extremely nice as she looked directly at me and took the time to listen to my order. I had lots of questions about items on the menu and she was always attentive in trying to understand my requests. She was great!

saber-market-023.jpgThere is a bar with two large flat screen televisions hung above. The bar is not wheelchair accessible for it is too high; ADA doesn’t require a bar to be accessible but I think a section of all bars should be lowered so a wheeler can access it.

saber-market-022.jpgLocated in a rear section of the restaurant are tables that can accommodate customers who want more privacy. There is even a draw curtain you can pull for total privacy. I thought what a nice place to take someone on a date. How romantic having a candle lit dinner in private area of a fancy restaurant

saber-market-016.jpgWe also noticed there is a dessert bar, with mouth watering fancy deserts. I could easily view all deserts while sitting in my chair.

Restrooms are wheelchair accessible, spacious and fully ADA compliant. The accessible sink, soap and hand towel dispenser are all within my reach. Pipes under the accessible sink are covered as it is a new ADA requirement.

saber-market-017.jpgAfter enjoying our delicious meal, we headed to the desert bar, for we could not forget the mouth watering desserts .We’re all on a diet but agreed we would split a slice of caramel cheese cake. We were tempted to split another piece, but all remained strong and asked for the check so we could cash out ASAP.

I give the Sabor Market FOUR STARS for wheelchair accessibility. They can earn the Fifth Star by simply installing an automatic entry door. Kristen, our waitress, the food, service and kind employees all get Five STARS for being sensitive, kind, courteous and respectful.
