This week Ric, my mom and I went to Stephanie’s Perennials located in Lakeville, only a few miles from my home because I needed a few herbs, vegetables, flowering plants and potting soil for pots on my deck. I was delighted to find Stephanie’s Perennials is a very wheelchair friendly and accessible place to shop.

Stephanie’s Perennials, a 2 acre farm run by Stephanie Schwalm is open seasonally from May – October 7 days a week; Sunday-Monday 9-1; Tuesday-Friday 9-5; and Saturday 9 -1.

There is plenty of parking available in the main parking lot close to the entrance. Once out of our van, we were warmly greeted by Stephanie, the sister-in-law of Stephanie, the owner. Stephanie was very sweet, kind, courteous and offered us any help or advice we needed.

The parking area consists of compacted crushed stone and it is fairly easy to wheel along. The aisles in the section all the perennials are located is wide with a tarp placed on the ground which makes for easy wheeling. All perennials are placed on tables that are of a good wheelchair accessible height for you to view or reach.

Access to the farm stand is easy for the doors are always kept wide open. The cashier counter is of a good wheelchair accessible height and I had no problem reaching. The flowering annuals, perennials, herbs and vegetables are well maintained and beautiful. Cut flowers are also available which are freshly cut and beautiful. Potting Soil, natural fertilizer, and unique ceramic pots are available as well. We picked out the herbs and plants I selected and Stephanie helped us carry the bags of potting soil and plants to our van. Stephanie even lined the floor of our van with paper to prevent it from getting soiled. Once back home, I was really impressed with Ric’s gardening skills :-)

Stephanie’s Perennials in Lakeville deserves FIVE STARS for wheelchair accessibility and Stephanie deserves FIVE STARS for her kindness, sensitivity and helpfulness.
