My mom, Kate, Ric and I really built up an appetite after rallying hard at the
State House Rally For New Revenue to Save Disability Services and going to
Cambridge Disability and Human Rights Commission. We had to start driving back home to be on time for my roommate, so Kate parked the van on Cambridge Street while Ric and my mom went into Subway to get us lunch.
Ric and my mom report that this Subway is only partially wheelchair accessible for there is no accessible table inside. It is a small Subway; entry doors are not automatic; the cashier counter is of a perfect wheelchair accessible height; the self serve soda fountain is lower than most they’ve seen and of a good height for a wheeler. The only place for customers to sit and eat is at a high countertop with removable stools; this countertop is not wheelchair accessible for it is too high.
Kenny & Co give this Subway THREE STARS for wheelchair accessibility. In order to earn the other Two Stars, they would simply need to install an automatic entry door so a wheeler can enter independently and lower a section of the countertop where customers sit and eat to a wheelchair accessible height.
