subway-2.jpgAfter my friends and I stopped in to say hi to friends in the CSI office in Sandwich today, we stopped at Subway to have some lunch and see how wheelchair accessible it is.

There is a handicap parking space right in front of Subway and wheelchair access to the sidewalk. Subway has one front entry door and it is not automatic so my friends opened the door. 

The counter where you order and pay for the food is very wheelchair accessible and the height is good for my wheelchair. The tables in Subway are a good height for my wheelchair too.

The restroom is a one room restroom and it is wheelchair accessible with all the required ADA safety bars around the toilet. The sink is wheelchair accessible and has the ADA required covering around the pipes underneath.

subway-rear-entry.jpgWe noticed that this subway also has a rear door where one can enter or exit but we don’t recommend it for it is not near handicap parking spaces and it’s a long walk on the sidewalk to the wheelchair access of the sidewalk.

I give Subway FOUR STARS for wheelchair accessibility. They would just need to install automatic entry doors in order to earn the Fifth Star.
