On our way to Newton, my friends and I went to do some banking at TD Banknorth in Braintree and were very pleased to see that it is fully wheelchair accessible. Parking is not a problem for there are many handicap parking spaces right in front of the bank. To the left is a wheelchair accessible cement ramp that leads to the upper level where the entry doors to the bank are located. There are two entry doors you will need help with opening for neither is automatic. The first door leads you into a foyer and the second leads you into the lobby of the bank.
Once inside there is document service counter that is at a good wheelchair accessible height so a person in a wheelchair can easily fill out any banking slip. The wheelchair accessible teller window in this bank is a perfect height for a person in a wheelchair and there is even a chair off to the side for someone with a cane to utilize and have a seat when completing their transactions. This is an added feature that I have never seen before and think is wonderful!
The bank employees are all very friendly, courteous and always willing to help when needed.
I give TD Banknorth FOUR STARS for wheelchair accessibility. In order to earn the Fifth Star, they would need to install automatic entry doors.
