capitol-coffee-house-sign.jpgThe Capitol Coffee House is conveniently located right across the street from the Massachusetts State House. I stopped by here to get a drink and a snack after touring the State House and decided to do a wheelchair accessibility review. (See my Review of Massachusetts State House.

capitol-coffe-houe-door.jpgThe entry door is nice and wide and easy to get my Tilt and Space wheelchair through but it is not automatic. It was a warm day when I stopped by and the main door was wide open so I easily wheeled my wheelchair right inside.

capitol-coffee-conuter.jpgThe front part of the restaurant has a high counter where one can order  some food or a drink to take with them.  Stools are also located at another section of this  counter that one can sit at to enjoy a cup of coffee with a meal. This counter is not wheelchair accessible for it is too high for a person like me in a wheelchair to reach top of the counter.

capitol-coffee-house-tables.jpgWe discovered that there is a room in the rear side of the coffee house which has plenty of tables that are a good height for my wheelchair. There is also plenty of room for one in a wheelchair to move around the tables. The staff were very courteous, friendly and kind to me. They didn’t have a restroom so I couldn’t assess that.

I give the Capitol Coffee House THREE STARS for wheelchair accessibility. They could earn the other TWO STARS if they installed an automatic door and placed a small section at the main counter that is wheelchair accessible.
