toms-bait013.jpgAfter obtaining my Massachusetts Fresh Water Fishing License, my friends and I traveled to the Tom’s Bait and Tackle in Middleboro. I was pleased to find it wheelchair accessible and wheelchair friendly.

There are plenty of parking spaces in their parking lot, yet none are marked as handicap parking. When I was wheeling up the access slope to the entry door, a very nice employee opened the door for me. The entry door is wide enough for my chair but it is not automatic.

toms-baitl-014.jpgThe employees are all very friendly, kind and helpful. I asked if  they could restring my fishing pole. I want to be fully ready for one of my famous fishing trips with Aunt Nancy. The customer service counter is of a wheelchair accessible height; and I was able to complete my transaction easily.

My fishing pole was re-strung in a short time and we were on our way home.  Now, I am ready to go fishing with my friends and Aunt. We are hoping to have better luck catching fresh water fish, for we never caught any salt water fish big enough for us to take home and cook all last summer!

I give Tom’s Bait & Tackle FOUR STARS for wheelchair accessibility. In order to earn the Fifth Star, they would need to install an automatic entry door. I would also recommend marking a parking space, located close to the entrance as handicap accessible for the busy fishing season is soon approaching !!
