Today, I went to Utopia Salon and Day Spa for a facial and reflexology. It is one of my favorite places to go for a facial or a massage. There is a handicap parking space right in front of the main entry door. The sidewalk to the entry door is ground level and very wheelchair accessible. The entry door is wide enough for my wheelchair but does have a slight lip that you might need help getting over. The staff at the Salon are all very courteous and helpful and always open the door for me when I arrive.
Sarah Cohen, licensed Aesthetician at the spa has done several facial, hand treatments, and reflexology for me. Sarah is wonderful, sweet, kind sensitive and very professional. She is very attentive to me in every way. I’ve had several relaxing massages as well. My friends help me transfer to a very comfortable, padded treatment table. If you are going to go there alone, I recommend that you call ahead of time to let the staff know that you may need some assistance with getting on the table.
I really enjoy the facials which consists of a exfoliation of dead skin cells, steam which open my pores, an eye treatment and a facial mask which moisturizers my skin. Sarah is also licensed in Reflexology of feet and hands. She applies pressure to different zones and reflex areas of my feet and hands with certain thumb, finger and hand techniques. It’s supposed to help encourage beneficial effects on other parts of my body and to improve my general health. I think it works for I feel absolutely wonderful after the treatment. I would recommend this treatment to anyone in a wheelchair for it is nice to get out of our chairs and be pampered occasionally.
I give the Utopia Salon and Day Spa FIVE STARS. They do not have automatic doors, YET there is always a staff person in the salon ready to open the door for me as soon as I arrive. I also give Sarah Cohen FIVE STARS for being so kind and sensitive to my special needs.

hi,
Man you sure look like your having a good time. I have to say that I myself enjoy being pampered. Its a good get-a-way from the everyday job and responsibilities. Have you ever tried rating tanning salons for those tanning beds. I have friends also in wheelchairs and they have a hard time getting into the rooms and onto the tanning beds. I have been looking at you web site for quite soome time now and I think its a great sorce of information. Trust me I will be keeping in touch. Thanks

Hi Anthony,
Wow, tanning salons is a great idea for places to review. I went to one a few years ago..my friends did help me get into the tanning table but it was real tough. I’ll go to a few and try again. If you or your friends want to email me a wheelchair accesibility review of a tanning salon, I would be glad to post it for you and make a note it is from you. My email is kennytraveling@aol.com.
Thanks for the idea!
