I visited Disney World in 1998 with my mom and dad and went back in 2002 with my friends. In 1998, I stayed at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa and in 2002, I stayed at Disney Polynesian Resort . Both Resorts were fully wheelchair accessible as were the wheelchair accessible rooms we requested. We were delighted with the large roll in showers and the spaciousness of the rooms in both hotels. I chose these hotels because they are on the Disney Ground and have easy transportation access to the Theme Parks, Water Parks and Downtown Disney available by the Monorail. They also have easy access to the Ferry. The hotels were more expensive than others, but it saved money because I didn’t need to rent a handicap van during my vacation.
Disney Guest accessibility services were absolutely wonderful. They helped to arrange transportation for me in a wheelchair accessible taxi to and from the airport and arranged for a roll in shower chair to be delivered to my room from a local healthcare company.
I visited ALL of the theme parks and found all very accessible and it was very easy to find transportation via bus. All of the Disney staff were extremely courteous and very helpful.
I never had to wait in any of the long lines for the disabled were allowed to go up front. This was really great for it saved much time. The Disney staff were all very helpful and patient with helping to get me on some of the rides like Splash Mountain and Thunder Mountain for they had to stop the ride to give me time to get on.
I would HIGHLY RECOMMED A WALT DISNEY VACATION to anyone in a wheelchair for I am sure you will enjoy your vacation as much as I did. I felt like a PRINCE the both times I went.
Walt Disney World Resorts and Theme Parks deserve a FIVE STAR rating.
