Well it is Sunday again and my Aunt Nancy always comes to visit me on Sunday and we usually go with my friends, Josh and Kate to the waterfront at Plymouth and my aunt treats me to lunch. Today we decided to have lunch at Weathervane for it is one of the few waterfront restaurants in Plymouth that I haven’t written a wheelchair accessibility review of.
I had a very humiliating experience today! My waitress at the Weathervane wouldn’t even look at me or listen to what I was saying when placing my lunch order. My waitress only looked at my aunt and my friends and totally ignored me as though I wasn’t even there. When I got back home, my aunt, friends and I told my mom about how I was treated and she immediately called the manager who said he would fax a complaint to the headquarters. My mom told me that she felt the management needed to know so that all the staff at Weathervane are trained on how to treat the disabled with respect, dignity and sensitivity.
As for wheelchair accessibility, there are two doors you will need help opening for neither door of the doors are automatic. The first door is a single door that leads you into a foyer and the second set of doors are double doors which lead to the restaurant. We were told that there was a ten minute wait which kind of surprised us for there were many empty tables but we waited patiently. We were then led to the main dining room in which I found it very difficult to maneuver my wheelchair around because the tables were crowded together. The person who showed us the way to our table was nice and asked which table would best suit my wheelchair.
After we were seated, our waitress came to ask for our order. As I mentioned she would not even look me in the eye nor listen to what I ordered. She acted as though I didn’t exist. My aunt ordered the swordfish special that I told her I would like to try. Once our meals came, Josh my friend noticed that his burger was not fully cooked. He tried to get our waitress’s attention but she totally ignored him too. As I began to eat my swordfish I also noticed that a section of it looked raw and again we tried to get our waitress’s attention with no luck at all. When she did finally come over and we told her about the undercooked food, all she told us was that she would inform the kitchen. We all thought that she would have been more concerned especially since their board has “# 1 Seafood Restaurant..” written on it, which we learned was misleading .
Well we were all disgusted with the lack of service by this time. My aunt said lets just get the check and leave. I politely called and waved to our waitress who was looking our way and my aunt also waved to her to come but she totally ignored both of us and proceeded to clear off a table near us. This is when a very nice male waiter came over to our table to ask if he could help, my aunt just asked for the check which was brought quickly. As for the restrooms, they were very wheelchair accessible and had all the ADA requirements and even the covering around the piping under the accessible sink.
I give Weathervane Seafood Restaurant TWO STARS. The only reason they earned Two Stars was because of the wheelchair accessible restroom and the nice male waiter. In order to earn the other Three Stars, they would need to install automatic doors at both entry doors, reorganize the tables to make more space for wheelchairs to get by and teach ALL of their staff the importance of treating the disabled with respect, sensitivity and dignity. And my waitress gets ZERO STARS for lack of respect and sensitivity towards the disabled.

I’ve been there myself with a friend in a wheelchair and found the same problems you did. I wouldn’t recommend them either.

ON nov.17 this month,I went to the weathervane resturant iin Bedford, I had a gift card whuch I had used previously in Labenon NH. I had $6.62 left on it. I went to pay my bill. the waitress checked the card and stated I had only $1.62 left on it. I demanded she give the card back to me and I paid the total bill in cash plus a $3.00 tip. On the 26 of this month I went to dinner at the Labenon NH resturant. I went to pay thre bill with the gift card and she said she would check it first. She came back told me there was zero left,I had been ripped off. I learned 2 thigs. I will not stop in the Bedford resturant any more because they a bunch of crooks. And I will not accept an other gift card from your Chain.
