Editorial standards

Editorial Standards

How authorship, sources, review, and corrections fit together.

Our standard is to make a guide’s purpose, authorship, sources, and limitations clear.

Attribution

Credit writing, editing, research, and verification only for work that has been completed. Portraits are illustrative. Profile details must not imply qualifications or testing experience that cannot be substantiated.

Evidence

Use exact model identifiers and current documentation for dimensions, adjustment ranges, load limits, controls, and care requirements. Separate sourced information from firsthand findings.

Health and accessibility

Do not treat general comfort preferences as proof of medical benefit. Wheelchair fitting, pressure management, and individualized support needs require qualified assessment. Explain the limits of general education.

Updates

Review dated product information where relevant. Material corrections should include a clear note describing what changed.

Written by

Identifies the contributor responsible for writing the article. Their profile links to their background and published work.

Reviewed by

Identifies the person assigned to review the article. The evidence notes explain what the review covers.

Verified by

Identifies the person assigned to check the article’s factual claims against supporting sources.

Edited by

Identifies the person assigned to edit the article for clarity, structure, and context.

Follow a claim back to its source

Check which model, location, date, or conditions a source covers. A specification, an observation, and an opinion each support different kinds of conclusions.
